The early months
Puppies usually arrive home with sharp baby teeth. Around three to four months, those teeth begin to loosen and adult teeth start emerging. You may find a tiny tooth, but many are swallowed harmlessly.
The busiest chewing period
Between roughly four and six months, gum tenderness and the physical process of new teeth can increase chewing. Adult teeth are commonly present by about six to seven months, although individual and breed variation exists.
What can look normal
Extra chewing, mild drooling, brief gum tenderness, or a small spot of blood on a toy can occur. The puppy should still be able to eat, play, and settle.
What to avoid
Keep the response gentle.
Avoid pulling loose teeth or offering objects hard enough to fracture a tooth.
Safety boundary
When to get more help.
Contact a veterinarian for persistent bleeding, facial swelling, marked pain, broken teeth, bad odor, or refusal to eat.
